Mentor Committee
Contact Information

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns - we are here to be a resource to new graduate students. Email Kari Zhe-Heimerman
What we do

Mentors are current IRM, TNM and MSLIS students who act as a resource to new students. They are available for questions and guidance about academics, campus life or Syracuse in general. The mentoring committee is primarily concerned with providing students information on a peer-to-peer level.
How to become a Mentor

Join the mentoring group by contacting the team leader Kari Zhe-Heimerman and expressing your interest in being a mentor. Mentors must have a willingness to be a resource for students, be able to participate in a weekend course in August as well as devote some time during the semester to advise and build the program for future classes.
Advising Sessions

Throughout the school year we will be holding advising sessions. Mentors will hold "office hours" where interested students are encouraged to come and discuss issues that concern them. We will post the days, times, and locations for these advising sessions as soon as we have confirmed the schedule.
Activities

Mentors assisted with Spring Orientation 2001 activities. We conducted tours for the new students and facilitated group advising sessions. In addition, we assisted with IST 601, the required one-credit course for all new graduate students.
